Position Summary
The Senior Staff Accountant plays a key role in ensuring accurate and compliant financial operations across Beyond Hospitality Group Inc. This position focuses on state and local sales and income tax compliance, month-end close activities, and accounts payable management. The ideal candidate is highly detail-oriented, analytical, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced, multi-entity environment.
Key Responsibilities
Tax Compliance & Filings
- Prepare, review, and file state and local sales/use tax returns across multiple jurisdictions.
- Prepare and assist with state income and franchise tax filings, estimated payments, and extensions.
- Manage and track state tax registrations, renewals, and business licenses.
- Reconcile tax payable accounts and verify proper tax accruals in the general ledger.
- Research and resolve tax notices, discrepancies, and correspondence with state agencies.
- Coordinate and support state tax audits, providing documentation and responses as needed.
Month-End Close & Financial Reporting
- Lead and perform month-end closing activities, including journal entries, accruals, and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Analyze general ledger activity to ensure accuracy and proper classification of expenses.
- Prepare monthly financial reports supporting management and external reporting needs.
- Reconcile intercompany accounts and ensure consistency across entities.
- Support preparation of year-end financial statements and audits.
Accounts Payable Management
- Oversee the accounts payable function, ensuring timely and accurate processing of vendor invoices and payments.
- Review and approve AP batches, ensuring proper coding, authorization, and documentation.
- Maintain vendor records, W-9 forms, and 1099 reporting compliance.
- Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies promptly.
- Implement best practices to streamline the AP process and strengthen internal controls.
Process Improvement & Compliance Oversight
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of tax law changes and implement best practices for compliance.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
- Support automation and digital tools for tax, AP, and month-end functions (e.g., Xero, NetSuite, or other).
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure proper tax treatment and expense reporting for all business transactions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA-eligible preferred but not required).
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including sales tax, income tax, AP, and month-end closing.
- Strong understanding of multi-state tax compliance and GAAP accounting principles.
- Proficiency with QuickBooks/Xero, Sage, or similar ERP systems; advanced Excel skills required.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.

Compensation & Location
- Annual base salary: $80,000 - $85,000
- Location: Miami Downtown Office / Hybrid
- Reports To: CFO, North America
