All you need to know
England, Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland, Scotland and Wales will be hosting UEFA EURO 2028™. The tournament will take place in the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland spanning over eight cities.
Matches will be played in nine iconic stadiums, including Wembley Stadium (London), Hampden Park (Glasgow), Dublin Arena, and the National Stadium of Wales (Cardiff).
UEFA EURO 2028™ will run from 9 June to 9 July 2028.
Opening match: National Stadium of Wales, Cardiff.
Semi-finals and Final: Wembley Stadium, London.
Wembley will host the decisive matches of the tournament, including both semi-finals and the final.
Group stage will host 24 teams. The teams will be split into 6 groups. Top two teams in each group as well as four of the best third-placed teams then proceed to the round of 16, after which a straight knockout will follow.
For the new qualifying format, the teams will be drawn in 12 groups of four or five. These groups will play each other in the qualifying stage which will begin in March 2027 and end in November 2027.
Group winners will qualify for UEFA EURO 2028™ directly. Runners-up may qualify directly as well or will participate in play-off matches with UEFA Nations League teams, which will take place in March 2028.
Belfast, Northern Ireland will host the UEFA EURO 2028™ qualifying draw on Sunday 6 December 2026.
